MathSpring Camp (I) —— Math Olympiad Preparation Camp (Session 4-6: 7/10 – 7/28/17, 3 weeks)

Math Olympiad preparation course helps to develop students’ intelligence, promotes mathematical thinking, and improves application of knowledge through math logic training. Students will be introduced to sample questions step by step, from easy to complicated examples.  We will focus on cultivating students’ mathematics ability, mainly, the ability to calculate, think logically and imagine space. Through training, students will gradually learn to analyze, synthesize, classify, abstract, analogy and other important methods of thinking. Most importantly, students will develop scientific and mathematical habit of thinking, which will be great help to their future learning.

Content: Math Olympiad preparation course & Fun games with math

Instructor: Mr. Zhenke Jiang has served as a public school math teacher for more than 20 years in China.  As a senior math teacher, he was the math coach for the twelfth “Hua Luo Geng Cup” math tournament and had won first prize during young math teacher problem solving Competition in Guangzhou.  Since teaching, Mr. Jiang has been coaching Elementary Math Olympiad and “Hua Luo Geng Cup” math tournament for years, his students had won many prizes including both group and individual awards in Guangzhou.

Instructor: Ms. Min Huang got her degree in both Education and Education Administration and had been an elementary math for 33 years in China. As a teacher, Ms. Huang focused on developing good learning habits according to students’ age group and cognitive skills, so as to stimulate their curiosity to understand the value of mathematics learning. Besides teaching, she is also committed to teacher training and teaching materials research. She had served as a staff member of department of Math teaching and research, planned and prepared training materials for Olympiad Math and Hua Luo Geng Cup tournament and etc.

Time: Monday – Friday 9:00am-12:00pm
Age: entering G2-G5
Fee:$200/week if register before 4/10/17,$250/week if register after 4/11/17
Extended program:  $150/week. Monday – Friday 8:30am – 9:00am and 12:00pm – 6:30pm

MathSpring Camp (II) —— Pre-algebra Math Camp (Session 4-6: 7/10 – 7/28/17)

This three week pre-algebra class is aiming at helping 5-6th graders making a smooth transition from   Elementary school to Middle school. We will review and strengthen the main math topics from Elementary school and introduce new concepts for preparing students algebra and more advanced math thinking for their Middle school study. Lecture topics will align with California Math Common Core State Standards.

Time: Monday – Friday 3:00pm-6:00pm
Age: entering G6-G7
Fee:$250/week if register before 4/10/17,$300/week if register after 4/11/17
Extended program:  $150/week. Monday – Friday 8:30am – 3:00pm and 6:00pm – 6:30pm

MathSpring Camp (III) —— Middle school Math Enrichment Camp (Session 4-6: 7/10 – 7/28/17)

This three week math enrichment course is designed with topics carefully selected from Algebra, Geometry, statistic and probability based on California Math Common Core State Standards. The purpose of this course is to help middle schoolers (6-8th graders) strengthen their understanding of math concepts and provide more challenge for them through a fun educational environment.  After building up their math confidence and interest, they will be ready and looking forward for more math fun in their coming high school years.

Instructor: Jie Liu-Dr. Liu is currently a university math professor. She has taught college level math for more than ten years in US. While helping her own kids study math, she started her interest in youth math learning and teaching. For the past couple of years, she volunteered in helping math clubs with her children’s elementary school and middle school by teaching math Olympiad, Math Counts and AMC series. She is very passionate about education especially early development of math thinking.
